Single Point of Entry
The Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging strongly supports a single point of entry to services for the elderly and disabled.
Research from a variety of sources show that consumers prefer a single point of entry. A single point of entry provides ease and simplicity of access for the individual in need of services.
A single point of entry allows agencies to leverage additional resources from local, state and federal sources. A single point of entry system maximizes the use of volunteers and community resources.
A single point of entry is the best means to ensure an efficient and effective delivery system.
Hallmarks of such a system include:
- identification of individuals eligible for service;
- managing waiting lists;
- targeting individuals to receive services;
- providing intake case management;
- performing quality assurance functions;
- maintaining records; and,
- monitoring case managers.
The Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging supports activities that strengthen a single point of entry.
